Wyoming's programs. Most come through the FAFSA or the state's own aid application; a few have their own.

Hathaway Scholarship

For Wyoming high school graduates who go to the University of Wyoming or a Wyoming community college. It has levels set by high school GPA and ACT score, and pays up to $2,360 a semester at the top level. Students must also complete the required high school courses.

Cowboy Need Grant (University of Wyoming)

The University of Wyoming's need-based grant for Wyoming residents with a family income of $65,000 or less who qualify for a Pell Grant. It goes to students who file the FAFSA early, by February 1, until the money runs out. The page gives no amount.

Wind River Promise Fund (University of Wyoming)

For enrolled members of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe or the Northern Arapaho Tribe who graduated from a Wyoming high school. It is meant to cover full tuition and mandatory fees, and pays a share of that if the money runs short. A student applies each year.

Coming to Wyoming from another western state

Students from the other western states pay no more than 150% of resident tuition at the public colleges that take part. Each college sets its own rules: a minimum GPA, majors it leaves out, early deadlines, or a limit on how many students get the rate.

Going from Wyoming to another western state

A Wyoming student can use it the other way, at public colleges in the other western states. The group that runs the exchange has a savings finder that lists each college and what the exchange saves there.
